Taking my Schnauzer to training with me?

I'm going away to my Animal Control Officer training soon and it's a month long so i have to take my dog with me. I'll be staying at the Ramada inn about 6 hours away from home, I was just wondering what other people do to help make it less stressful on him? Also i'm worried he might bark/whine when i'm gone to class (about 6-8 hours a day), He does fine when i'm gone that long at home, but in a strange environment? I have to take him with me, I just got out of high school and have no money for boarding/pet sitter/etc. so he has to go with me, it's a whole month after all.
