Where did God go off to?

You read the bible and everything you see stories of great pillars of fire leading Jews out of captivity. Amazing miracles 3 days of darkness killing giants with a stone and it goes on and on and on. Why not now? I mean in the bible it was an everyday thing it seems. Why not now?
