Windows media player file extension question?

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 with my PC that was running Vista. While running Vista, In windows media player, although many of the files had been deleted, the names were still available. I was using that to rebuild my music library and the names were all i needed to re-download the old music I had. When I upgraded to windows 7, those file names were gone. Is there any way to get them back?
