Would you hire a babysitter who used to cut themselves?

Just wondering. Because my sitter Ashton (Ash,boy) used to cut himself. I knew this before hand since he is a close family friend of ours. He told me why he did and why he stopped I thought I would give him a chance. Now he's worked for me for about 8 months. Would you hire someone like him?
